BP Pulse has joined ChargeHub's Passport Hub, adding more than 850 charging points across over 95 locations to the North American roaming network.
The newly announced integration lets EV drivers find, access and pay for charging at BP Pulse sites through the ChargeHub app. The chargers will also become accessible to users of other e-mobility service providers and automakers connected to Passport Hub.
Passport Hub is ChargeHub's roaming platform, connecting charging networks with mobility service providers and vehicle manufacturers. It is designed to simplify public charging access by letting drivers use existing apps and services across multiple networks instead of registering separately with each charge point operator.
Scope still to be clarified
While BP Pulse and ChargeHub disclosed the number of charging points and locations, the announcement did not specify how many are rapid or ultra-rapid chargers. It also did not say whether all 850-plus points are available through every Passport Hub partner.
For BP Pulse, the agreement extends the reach of its North American network by making its infrastructure accessible through more third-party platforms. ChargeHub gains another charging network for its roaming ecosystem.
Sujay Sharma, BP Pulse's VP of EV Charging in the US, said the partnership expands access to the BP Pulse network through trusted roaming partners. He added that charging networks working better together benefits the EV ecosystem and is an important step toward accelerating EV adoption.
Simon Ouellette, CEO of ChargeHub, said a network such as BP Pulse choosing Passport Hub signals that the hub model has become the way roaming is done in North America. Because it is a hub, he said, the effect extends beyond the ChargeHub app: eMSPs and automakers in the ecosystem can offer drivers access to BP Pulse fast chargers through connections they already have. When one major network joins, Ouellette added, the whole ecosystem improves at once.
